Easily recognisable by its dramatic ‘eyes’, the peacock can be found in
most habitats throughout the British Isles. Caterpillars are large,
black and spiny, feeding on stinging nettles. These butterflies love
buddleia and can hibernate over the winter. They appear as early as
March and can still be seen in November.
